I remember when… Our field was bare and brown, without even a fleeting sign of colour. No farmer fertilized the hungry ground and no gardener planted life. We turned the earth, with splintered handles, we gave it compost. Dead plants, used tea bags and coffee filters; egg shells, rotten fruit and onion skin…all compressed into mulch. From the used energy of our compost, came shooting life and colour. Surging upwards, pushing forwards and out, reborn and reaching for the abyss of blue above them. Bethan Spencer
I remember when… The ponies started following me at a festival! Anu Barling
I remember when … the sunshine shone down on my lovely, wee dogs at Ennerdale lake as they splashed in the water. Ailsa Cowen
