The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards – Youth and Student competitions

The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards, organised by the World Photography Organisation, are now open for entries. Professional, amateur, youth and student photographers from across the world can enter their best work for free at http://www.worldphoto.org

The Open and Youth competitions will close for entries at 23.59 GMT on Monday 5 January 2015

The brief for the 2015 Student Focus competition is to shoot a single image that symbolises contemporary consumer culture. The image can be sensationalist or low-key but it must be something the photographer feels is a reflection of today’s society. Entries to the Student Focus competition close on 6 December 2014.

Natural History Museum:  Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2015

Put nature in the frame and take part in the world’s most prestigious nature photography event.

You can enter the next competition from 5 January 2015 – 27 February 2015. It’s open to professional, amateur and young photographers.  The young competition is for photographers who are aged 17 and under.

British Wildlife Photographer – Annual competition

The title of British Wildlife Photographer is given to the photographer whose single image is judged to be the most striking and memorable of all the entries. There are two young person’s categories and on for schools.  The next BWPA competition will open in February 2015.

Schools award

A prize fund worth £1,000 including photographic and IT products.

There are two special awards to encourage participation by young people. These are free to enter.

 


‘The Environment and the Home’

Art & photography contest with three age groups (0-6, 7-11 and 12-16 years old)

At four times during the year (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter), there will be quarterly winners for each age group, each receiving £50 of vouchers.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is use your imagination to create a piece of hand-crafted art or to take a photograph that reflects the theme, ‘The Environment and the Home’.

RIBI Young Photographer – annual competition

Entrants submit three photographs on a theme in black and white or colour, along with a description of the inspiration for their photographs.

This competition is open to students in full time education in three age groups:

7 to 10 years old, 11 to 13 years old, 14 to 17 years old and there are local, district and national heats.
